The years pass and the accumulation of roles of "Boy Scout" without fear and without reproach seems to discredit him. He tries his hand at comedy with 6 days, 7 nights but his role of grumpy adventurer no longer suits a person of his age (56 years old at the time of the film).

His change of register for Appearances is a lifesaver. He is very convincing as a "bad guy". His role in Firewall is moderately received. His acting is fair, but the aging character at the heart of an action film gives the bitter impression of déjà vu. Before the preview of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at the Cannes Film Festival, critics are rather enthusiastic to find the adventurer on the big screen, especially those who grew up with him. The performance of Harrison Ford as an old adventurer is not called into question, unlike the film which is sometimes "accused" of sufficiency compared to old opus.

Les années passent et l'accumulation des rôles de « Boy Scout » sans peur et sans reproche semble le discréditer. Il s'essaye à la comédie avec 6 jours, 7 nuits mais son rôle d'aventurier bougon ne convient plus à une personne de son âge (56 ans au moment du film).

Son changement de registre pour Apparences est salvateur. Il est très convaincant en « méchant ». Son rôle dans Firewall est moyennement accueilli. Son jeu est juste mais le personnage vieillissant au cœur d'un film d'action donne l'impression amère de déjà-vu. Avant l'avant-première d'Indiana Jones et le Royaume du crâne de cristal au Festival de Cannes, la critique est plutôt enthousiaste de retrouver sur grand écran l'aventurier, surtout ceux qui ont grandi avec lui. La performance de Harrison Ford en vieux baroudeur n'est pas remise en cause à l'inverse du film qui est parfois « accusé » de suffisance par rapport aux anciens opus.
