Street Mabillon
Mabillon the street is a public street in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. It begins at 13 rue du Four and ends at 30 rue Saint-Sulpice. It runs along the St. Germain Market. The street is named after Dom Jean Mabillon (1632-1707), a Benedictine monk and scholar, member of the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris where he is buried. Even-numbered side at the level of 6, 8 and 10, the street has a recess with a below ground level of about three meters from the floor than that of the street. These homes embody the edge of the old courtyard of the Saint-Germain fair, fair now disappeared.
La rue Mabillon est une voie publique située dans le 6e arrondissement de Paris. Elle débute au 13 rue du Four et se termine au 30 rue Saint-Sulpice. Elle longe le Marché Saint-Germain. La rue doit son nom à Dom Jean Mabillon (1632-1707), moine bénédictin et érudit, membre de l'abbaye de Saint-Germain-des-Prés de Paris où il est enterré. Du côté des numéros pairs, au niveau des n°6, 8 et 10, la rue présente un renfoncement avec un niveau de sol en contrebas d'environ trois mètres par rapport à celui de la chaussée de la rue. Ces maisons matérialisent la bordure de l'ancien préau de la foire Saint-Germain, foire aujourd'hui disparue.
